Updated: Jul 1, 2022

These show stopping appetizers are delicious! Panner pinwheels are a must have at your next event.

Paneer and puff pastry are a match made in heaven. It's a quick and easy appetizer that will have your guests floored. the pinwheel shape really brings the appetizer up a notch. The best part is you can make them ahead of time and just heat to serve.

Paneer Pinwheels

Ingredients

  • 1 Package puff pastry sheets (I like to use Pepperidge Farms)

  • 1 Package Paneer, crumbled (Swad or Nanak)

  • 1 Tsp. Oil

  • 1/4 Red Onion finely chopped

  • 1 Inch Ginger, finely grated

  • 12-3 Garlic cloves, minced

  • 1-2 Green Chilies, finely chopped (optional)

  • Handful of Cilantro, finely chopped

  • 1/2 Tsp. Turmeric (Haldi)

  • 1/2 Tsp. Cumin (Jeera) Powder

  • 1/2 Tsp. Red Chili Powder

  • 1/2 Tsp. Chaat Masala

  • 1/2 Tsp. Dry Mango (Amchoor) Powder

  • 1 Tbsp. Sambal Oelek

  • Salt to Taste

Directions

  1. Let the puff pastry sheets defrost. You can move them to the refrigerator the day before.

  2. Crumble the paneer in a blender on pulse mode.

  3. In a large pan, heat oil on medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the chopped onions, garlic, and ginger.

  4. Sautee the mixture for a few minutes. Once the onions have browned, add the paneer. Mix well.

  5. Add the dry spices and the sambal sauce. Mix well. Taste for salt.

  6. Let the mixture cool.

  7. Once the puff pastry sheets have thawed. Lay the first sheet out on your bench/workspace. Roll out the sheet slightly to even it out. Do not roll it out to much, you will lose the layers once it bakes in the oven.

  8. Take half of the mixture and even it out on the puff pastry. Make sure to leave at least a half of an inch border all around, so that the mixture doesn't seep out.

  9. Roll the puff pastry into a log. You can refrigerate the log in parchment paper to make the pinwheels to cut.

  10. Cut the edges off the log and cut the log into even pieces. One log should yield 16 pieces. You should keep these pinwheels on the thicker side so that the paneer filling does not fall out.

  11. Bake the pinwheels at 350 degrees for 10-20 minutes. Flip halfway through the baking process.

  12. Serve warm with your favorite chutney or hot sauce. Enjoy!
